Rules:

The Single Pattern contest is designed to kickstart your creativity by giving you a starting point from which you can go wild!

You must be a registered member of Costume-Con 35 to enter or model garments in this contest. You may make and enter more than one garment, but an individual should plan on appearing on stage only once. If you wish to combine garments into a “look”, say a dress and cape or jacket, you can model them both at the same time.

Here are some examples of previous year’s patterns and  the final results, to give you an idea of how it works:

Original pattern: Japanese kimono, and some of the results:

The Rules:

  1. Make as many garments as you want, but you will only appear once on stage. You may, however, recruit models for any others you make.
  2. If you wish to combine any of the Single Pattern garments into a “look”, or style, you can model them in layers.
  3. Mixing and matching the patterns is permissible and encouraged, but you will need to be able to explain the construction to the judges. Documentation is also highly encouraged.
  4. We will not be using the Skills Division system for judging.

The Single-Pattern contest will be held during the Friday Night Social. Format is a simple runway walk with background music provided by the show. To reserve your spot, please contact the director before April 15.
