Rules:
The Single Pattern Contest has become a tradition at recent Costume Cons. Costume Con 16 plans to continue the tradition. This competition is fun and stretches the imagination and ingenuity while maintaining a “controlled” competition.
Often the most imaginative solutions can emerge when some aspect of the project is fixed.
The rules of the Single Pattern are simple.
1. We specify certain patterns which can be used.
2. The contestant may choose any of the patterns they desire. Yon need not be a member of the convention to sew an entry and send it with another member or mail it to us. You do need to be a member to attend the convention and show your work on stage.
3. A contestant may make as many entries as they desire, but may only appear on stage once.
4. The integrity of the patterns must be maintained. This means that the pieces must be recognizable. You may adjust the patterns for size and length. However extensive alterations, such as adding or removing pleats is forbidden. (However, added design seaming is allowed, so long as the overall shape of the joined pieces is not changed.
5. You may use any (and we do mean any) materials to make your pattern. You may also embellish it in any way you desire. This means such things as quilting, embroidery, painting, applique, cutwork, ribbonwork, and so forth are all allowable, as are any other embellishment you desire.
6. Remember that this convention is PG- 13. Please keep this in mind. We do reserve the right to disqualify any entry which we deem objectionable. The ruling of the contest administrators is final and not subject to appeal.
7. By submitting entries to this contest, you are agreeing to their display on stage or in the exhibit area. You are also agreeing to your entries being photographed and videoed by the convention, and the sale of these records to the membership. All rights to your creations revert to you after the convention is over.
