GALLERIA 3000

WELCOME TO THE MALL OF THE FUTURE!!!

Costume Con 13 is proud to announce the opening of Galleria 3000 the future’s most exciting and unique fashion center!!

The Costume Con 13 Future Fashion Design competition is your opportunity to create the clothing and accessories that will fill the stores in this fantastic marketplace. The categories – as varied as the stores in the Mall – range from formal wear to business attire to leisure wear; sports gear to shoes: uniforms to bridal outfits. There are shops for heavy worlders and children’s togs. There are stores that specialize in exquisite underwear or sturdy, practical outerwear. There are even boutiques that feature the best of offworld and alien apparel in truth, for every garment or accessory you can create there is a storekeeper in the Mall eager to display it. And yes, there is even a theatrical costume shop as well as a fantastic vintage clothing store!!

All winning designs will be chosen by a panel of Judges and will appear in a Galleria exclusive publication, Fashions of the Year 3000. All entries must be in the mail by December 15th, 1994. You don’t have to be a member of Costume Con 13 to enter. So, check out the rules below and let’s get designing – the customers are waiting!!

Send all submissions to:

Patti & Steve Gill
[Address Removed]

REMEMBER – ALL ENTRIES MUST BE POSTMARKED BY December 15th, 1994!!

RULES:

1. All designs must be ORIGINAL ideas. You may draw your design on a traced figure but the design itself must be original. If you have someone help you draw the design, please give credit. If you need figure outlines to trace, please send a S.A.S.E. to the above address and we’ll be happy to supply some. Artistic skill is not required, but ideas are! Please be neat.

2. Each design must be submitted in black ink on an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of white paper. Details or back views may be on separate sheets. Please do not send originals – clear, clean photocopies are just fine.

3. Color versions of your designs are appreciated but not required. We hope to have a display of the winning designs along with photographs of those that have been made up.

4. On the back of each design please include: your name and address, the number of that design and the total number of designs submitted (#1 of 5, #2 of 5, etc.) and what kind of store in the Mall would display this outfit ( a bridal shop, a sports outlet, etc). If you’re not sure, we will choose one for you. We reserve the right for the judges to change the location for a design as they see fit.

5. Please include a title/written description for each entry, indicating design details, fabrics, colors, etc. and any other details you especially want people to know about.

6. All rights to designs submitted to this contest remain the property of the designer, but by submitting them you agree to their publication in the Future Fashion Folio, their exhibit at CC 13 and their reproduction for the Fashion Show.

7. Designers wishing to have their drawings returned please enclose a large enough envelope with sufficient postage. They will be mailed to you after the convention. Canadian entries will be return mailed from Canada.

8. Designers have first option on making up their designs for the Fashion Show. If you have a preference, please let us know when you submit your entries. We will indicate in the Folio which designs are already taken.

9. This contest is open to all interested parties. You do not need to be a member of CC13 to enter designs or to be published in the Folio. You must, however, be a member to attend or participate in the Fashion Show.

10. You may enter as many designs as you wish, and as many times as you wish, but all submissions must be POSTMARKED by December 15th, 1994. Canadians, please make sure you have a customs declaration sticker on your submission (list as amateur drawings/no value).

COSTUME CON 13 FUTURE FASHION SHOW

Winning designs from the Folio will be presented at the Future Fashion Show. All members of the Convention are eligible to be in the Show.

You can make and model a design yourself or construct one for a friend to wear (or both!), but please, only one costume per person in the Show.

If possible we hope to display both colored drawings of winning designs with accompanying photos of those presented in the show.

All instructions for reserving a design will be listed in the Fashion Folio itself. Continuing a system that has worked well in the past few years, we will accept reservations only through the US or Canadian Mail, with postmarks deciding any ties. We will not accept any reservations postmarked prior to the date indicated in the Folio itself. This date will be 30 days from the date on which we mail the folios.
